People’s Choice and Editor’s Choice
John A. Guillozet, Piqua, Ohio, earned both the People’s Choice and the Editor’s Choice with his Bell Santa.
The editors agreed with the readers that John A. Guillozet’s Bell Santa is the top entry in the category. The editors liked the overall composition of John’s carving and felt that the elements were carved and painted well.
John used knives and gouges to carve the Santa from a solid piece of basswood. The piece is 4″ deep by 4 1/2″ wide by 9″ tall. John painted it with acrylics and finished it with boiled linseed oil and wax.
