Use the same basic blank and pattern to create many different animals
By Sandy Smith
It all started with a Caricature Carvers of America (CCA) seminar. I designed a cocker spaniel that could be carved from a small blank. It was a popular project, so I expanded my repertoire, using the same basic pattern and blank. So far, by changing some details, I’ve created more than 20 different carvings, ranging from dogs, to cats, to parrots, to elephants.
